It was a pleasure recently to work with one of the most recognized and great tasting Bean companies named Bush’s Best.
Little about this company. Did you know that when founder A.J. Bush started Bush Brothers & Company, he didn’t even sell beans?
BUSH’S® is all about family, friends that feel like family, and a certain Secret Family Recipe. When you enjoy their beans (doesn’t matter if they’re baked beans, black beans, pinto beans, great northern beans … you get the picture), you can trust that they’re the very best. Because they wouldn’t serve your family anything less. Since they got their start over 100 years ago in Chestnut Hill, Tennessee, BUSH’S has always maintained that quality is the best policy. They pursue excellence and exceptional taste in their beans, sauces and everything they do. That’s why, from mouthwatering Baked Beans to satisfying bean recipes, you’re cooking up the best with BUSH’S BEST®.
Bush’s Beans recognized Crews Crane Training International, Inc. as experts in the material handling industry and training field, so they reached out to ask for help in rigging these sleds as they call them to be replaced. Not only in a safe manner but a timely manner as these beans must roll down the sleds to their future destination, ie… can to store to you!!!
So what does rigging have to do with a great tasting beans you ask? Beans will actually wear down a stainless steel ramp over time and as they are replaced you must rig them using slings, shackles and a crane. To do this sometimes space (headroom) is very limited causing the maintenance employees to rig in tricky situations. Through planning, calculations, correct equipment and most of all proper training these pans can be replaced promptly and safely.
When it came to calculating center of gravity, correct lifting, stress factors, reduction factors, proper signaling, mobile crane operations, it was done correctly and of course the most important part of the day was the pre-lift meeting. Everyone knew their task and performed it correctly.
Congratulations to all the new qualified riggers at BUSH’S BEST.
One other note, We did see pigs fly and of course the dog Duke and Jay were close by. This location for the facility is a sight to see and you can. You can travel to Chestnut Hill, just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. The Visitor Center is located in the original A.J. Bush & Company General Store. Of course the facility was clean, clean, clean and the smell that day was of chipotle. Yummmy!!!!
Thanks again to all the people involved in allowing CCTI to help with your rigging training and look forward to seeing you again in the future. One big shout out to Ben Reece for making this all happen and flow so smoothly.
Below you will see some of the days activities both in the plant and outside.
